New Prints & Show Announcement

Reia's 3 Sheep Print

3 Sheep Print Set

Zebra Swallowtail Print

3 Butterflies Print Set
It's nearly December and that means more prints and print sets have migrated to my shop all those in search of the perfect Christmas gift.  Is there even such a thing as a perfect Christmas gift?  That's always a struggle for me every year- to find that special something for each person on my list.  It's so easy to find things that match my own taste...but what about parent's taste?  my in-law's?  my sister's?  Is it as challenging for you as it is for me?

Well, December 1 marks my last and final show of the year.  Can you believe it?  It'll be a nice small gathering in a building just blocks from home.  I'm partnering with two other artists- one a stained glass maker and the second, a jeweler- for this one time event this Saturday from 10-4pm.  In case you happen to live nearby, the address is 108 West Springtown Road in Minier, IL.  And in case you don't live nearby, no worries!  My shop will remain open for browsing and buying all weekend.  I do hope you find something special for everyone on your list this Christmas.

Shop Update

Saturdays always feel like free work days to me.  I can slow down a bit and work on a few fun projects I've been meaning to get to all week.  So today, instead of updating my shop with new items, I've redone my Etsy "About" page with these behind-the-scenes photos and short descriptions of how I work.  Jump here to read more!

Pictures that Tell a Story

Hello friends!  Are you enjoying your week so far?  I am starting to feel that holiday excitement too.  This holiday season for me will be one like never before.  It's my first "self-employed" Christmas season and the custom orders are already streaming in so quickly that I fear I won't be able to keep up.  It's a wonderful dilemma and one I thank God for everyday, but it is, as you can imagine, quite overwhelming at times.  My "to do" list is growing at such a fast rate!

One of the things on my "to do before the holiday rush" list is to update the product photography in my shop.  It's been a long time coming with many hours of behind the scenes work and brainstorming to come up with such a simple concept to show off my prints.  The cardinal rule in selling work online is photography.  How well does your customer understand your product?  Can they visualize the size, color, texture, weight, etc?  And since I'm in the market for visual story-telling, photographing my work is crucial in conveying each story my paintings tell.

So, as simple as these new product photos seem, I'm so proud to have them in the shop as I strive to have the prettiest, clearest, and most efficient shop possible.  I'll be adding new print sets and paintings all winter long, so be sure to check back often if you are in the market for some cute Christmas gifts.  (Click the images to get started.)

VerĂ³nica de Arriba

Every now and again I run into an artist on Etsy that I simply cannot resist.  I'm smitten.  This would be an example of that.  Depeapa is the name of her store.  Prints, bags, necklaces, brooches.  Pom Pom garland!  Please visit this exceptional shop.  I have a feeling you'll fall in love just like me.

Sperm Whale painting

I'm just dropping in today to share a few new images...

Sperm Whale 12 x 24 in. Watercolor on paper

My new whale painting (which you've seen glimpses of here and there) is finished and hanging
at the Lincoln College gallery.  He's so dashing.  I love his color and tiny eyes.
He makes me want to paint more whales for sure.

And here's just a few examples of some new images in my Etsy shop.
Always updating!

Are you ready for the weekend?
It's right around the corner you know...

and so is Christmas!
How is your Christmas shopping coming along?
This is where I'm headed soon to do some shopping:

I'm really going to have to focus hard core if I'm going to buy anything in this store for anyone other than myself.  It's a problem I have.  With Ikea.  I'm like a crazy person the second I walk in there.

And this time, my list is rather lengthy.
